The Germans are very helpful and of course very hard workers, at least in the family where i were. My family wanted to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. On the weekend, the coolest thing that we did, was going to the laser shooting place. There, you had to shoot with laser guns and you had a vest that you put on and when you get hit, you can't shoot for five seconds it was really cool. We also went to a city called Bielefeld and there we went shopping. A huge surprise was, that the prices in electronics store were amazing compared to Estonia. One big thing was that we went to Wolfsburg, and there we went to a Wolksvagen factory what was a very big experience for me. We saw how cars are made and delivered to us in market. And of course the christmas market. It was so beautiful and very peculiar. We went to Bielefelds christmas market and it was very cool . The main thing that was unusual for me was that the school system. They had two first lessons together. And from ther...

The differences and similarities between Estonians and Germans by Tarmo

Recently, our school had a big students exchange with a German school. 18 students from Kanepi Gymnasium, including me, and 5 teachers travelled to Nordrhein-Westfalen, a German region, where the Evangelisches Gymnasium Werther was located. The program was packed full of interesting activities and wonderful sights to see. On one day, we were with our hosts and we attended school lessons with them. I was in three lessons that day, which included English, Latin and some kind of lesson about family life. On the day of our arrival to Werther I attended PE lesson. A big difference between the German school and the Estonian one is that Germans are way more active in their lessons and their education system is harsher than ours. Students want to be active in their lessons and they have great conversations with the teachers about current subjects. I still don’t know how long the lessons are because at one time it was 45 minutes the second time it was way longer. The grade system is also diff...

Once again we had an exchange student program with Werther’s school in Germany. Me and a lot of other students from our school stayed there from the 6th till the 13th of December. Our journey started from our school and from there we went to the airport in Tallinn. We started driving at 1 AM and there was a strong snowstorm in Estonia so the roads were really slippery and some cars had even crashed into the trenches next to the roads. Luckily nothing happened to our bus and we safely arrived at the airport and got on our plane. The plane landed in Frankfurt and there we got on another plane that took us to Paderborn and from there we continued to Werther by bus. We arrived in Werther at 1 PM and there we got to greet our exchange students, after that some of us went home and some of us had to stay in the school for some lessons. Unfortunately I was the latter but after the lessons I finally got to go home and I immediately went to bed and slept until 12 AM. Then I couldn’t go back t...

My trip to Germany My trip to Germany started on 6-th December. We departed from Kanepi at 1 am. I was tired, but I couldn’t sleep much, I think that was because I was too excited about the trip. Firstly, we arrived at Tallinn airport. We had to wait several hours to get on the airplane. It was my very first time to fly, so I was very scared at first. When the plane was taken off, at first I was terrified, because the earth and solid ground had vanished underneath my feet. But after a little while it was quite normal and I even enjoyed flying above clouds. We next touched down at Frankfurt airport and then we went to a connecting flight to Paderborn. From there on we traveled by bus. I even got some rest. When we arrived to Werther, all the hosting students were waiting at school. We all were very hungry and tired. So at first we went to schools cafeteria to get some snacks. Then it was time to go to hosting families, but some of them still had lessons. I went with my exch...

We went on December 6th to Germany.  We started bus ride at 1 o'clock to Tallinn airport. Then we went to the plane. I flew for the first time and I was really excited.  Everything went well for me. Sometimes, the ears were locked but I was ok with that. Then we arrived at Frankfurt airport. We went by bus to Werther. There is a school named Werther Gymnasium. Nature is very beautiful in German. German students were waiting for us.  My German student is Emily. We were a little time at school. After we went home. She introduced her home and her family. In the evening we ate, talked and watched TV. I had a great time. I was really tired and I went sleep early. The next day we were in lessons at school. It was a bit hard, but I managed to cope with it. In general, the school was the same as ours. In the evening I went with Emily handball training. I watched. The system is a bit different. Next day we went to Münster. It´s a small city near Werther. W...

Students exchange by Cris Steven

Germany 6.12.2017-13.12.2017 On December 6th we arrived in Germany. Our exchange students waited us in local school in Werther. We had a little snack in school, then I went home with my exchange student. My exchange student’s name was Rieke. He lived with her mother, father and brother. They also had a dog. She lived close to school. Only few minutes away. After arriving we ate a bit and talked about me and about Estonia. First day in Germany was a school day. We participated in school lessons. Meanwhile, we also had an opportunity to eat pizza. It was really good, but I can say that pizza in Italy is much better .After school lessons we went back to home. In the evening we went in the restaurant. Some other exchange students were also there. Next day we went to Münster. It was a small city near Werther. We saw a city with a guide. She told us a bit about the city and info about most important monuments. After the tour we had an opportunity to buy somethi...

Exchange in Germany by Kadri

At the beginning of the long waited Christmas season begun my trip to Germany. It was going to be a relaxing and fun week in festive spirits. I had heard lot about how beautifully decorated Germany is in the winter season. My host was Melissa. We had already met last year because she was an exchange student for a month in our school. Melissa was a really kind and lovable girl, she loved to talk a lot and was a very good companion. She lived together with her mother and father. Aside from two super cute and tiny dogs Melissa also had some other interesting pets. For example she had two bearded dragons. I had never before heard anything about these kinds of animals and I was a bit frightened at first. It came out that the scary sounding bearded dragons were actually really charming little lizards. However, that was not all of the animals in the house. Melissa and her father were part of a dog walking club. They would usually go walking every day and there were around ten to tw...

Students´ exchange- by Laur

From 6th of December to 13th December I took part in the Estonia - Germany  exchange student programme. I had with me about twenty other Estonians, who wanted to go to Germany. Our journey started from our way to Tallinn. We flew from Riga to Frankfurt and from there to Paderborn. We finally arrived to Werther at noon. When we arrived to school, all of our exchange students were waiting for us next to the school. My exchange student was a girl, her name was Carina. She lived in the town of Werther with her mother and a dog. They had quite a big  and a beautiful house. I was given her room, while she slept in the next room. It was obvious that she liked horses, her room was full of pictures of horses and horse riding awards. Every day after school or some kind of excursion, depending on the day, we had to go and visit the horses. The stables with the horses were about 10 km from the house. She had 2 horses, their names were Hippie and Max. Hippie was a girl, while Max was...
