My impression of Estonia In the beginning I was quite excited about my stay here in Estonia. I was unsure how I would feel in my host family, what I would think about the Estonian culture and which experiences I was going to collect. When we landed in Riga I first noticed the beautiful nature in the Baltic countries, as it looked as beautiful as in Estonia and around Kanepi later as well. I also enjoyed the amount of snow lying all over the trees and fields. As there was a lot of snow, it was also quite cold. This cold was shown to advantage when we went for example on a walk through a forest to play some team-building games or when we went snowshoeing.  During my stay here in Estonia I did not only enjoy the nature, but was also able to collect some expressions of the Estonian culture. Before my trip to Estonia I have only known a few things about the country, its people and the Estonian history or culture. This way it was quite interesting when we did activities t...

My exchange in Estonia 2018 The time I spent in Estonia was a great experience and good possibility to get to know another culture and to learn how to talk to other people in English. At first I was a bit shy and did not really know how to communicate with my host family until I got to know them better and knew how everything went on in their daily life.   At that time I started to be really comfortable at my home for the week and had a lot of fun in my host family. Furthermore I had the impression that they opened up during the week too. All the time I had the impression that I was welcome there and my host family was very hospitable. Additionally I really liked the program organized by the school as well as the activities planned by my host family. Everyone was seriously trying to make our stay in Estonia as good as possible therefore they organized many meetings with all the exchange students and it did not become boring at all, even if Kanepi is just a really smal...

I am now going to tell you some experiences and emotions that I had while my student exchange in Estonia/ Kanepi.   At Thursday the 15 th march the german students arrived in Kanepi after a long bus ride from the airport in Riga. My first impression of the country was, that it was much colder than I expected.   As we drove through the country I saw a lot of snow and I also didn’t see a lot of houses or villages. I also noticed that there is a lot of very beautiful nature and woods in Estonia.  After a good sleep at my host family we were welcomed at the school and played some games to get to know each other. After that we went on a hike to the woods were we played some team games with the Estonian students. In the woods I realized that it was really really cold and after a short time I couldn’t feel my legs or hands anymore. On this first day and the hike I also saw a lot of the village “Kanepi” and I think that it is really small but it is really beautiful and...

My seven days in Estonia: We arrived in Kanepi on Thursday evening. It was a long journey and we were very tired. Our nice program started on Friday morning. We often went to school which was very interesting because the Estonian school system is different from the German school system. The classes are smaller than in Germany and the relationship between students and teachers is different. I also liked the trips we made. On the first day we made some team games in the forest and ate cake and sausages in the nature. A few days later we made another trip into the nature. I visited two cities with my exchange group: Tartu and Tallinn. We went shopping and visited museums. In Tallinn we also had a nice guided tour through the old town. One evening all German and Estonian students met at the culture house in Kanepi. We ate together and later we learned some traditional dances. The evening was very funny. All in all I can say that the exchange was better than I expect. I real...
