I am now going to tell you some experiences and emotions that I had while my student exchange in Estonia/ Kanepi.
At Thursday the 15th march the german students arrived in Kanepi after a long bus ride from the airport in Riga. My first impression of the country was, that it was much colder than I expected.  As we drove through the country I saw a lot of snow and I also didn’t see a lot of houses or villages. I also noticed that there is a lot of very beautiful nature and woods in Estonia.

After a good sleep at my host family we were welcomed at the school and played some games to get to know each other. After that we went on a hike to the woods were we played some team games with the Estonian students. In the woods I realized that it was really really cold and after a short time I couldn’t feel my legs or hands anymore. On this first day and the hike I also saw a lot of the village “Kanepi” and I think that it is really small but it is really beautiful and cute too.

On the weekend, the exchange students had some nice plans for us. We had a visit at the school and saw some snakes there. I was a bit afraid but it was interesting too. We also went to Voru where we went to a cross country skiing park and ascended the highest mountain in Estonia were you had a pretty nice view over the landscape and the woods. On Sunday we went to Tartu which is a big city in Estonia with about 100.00 inhabitants where it was really nice too. We visited the science museum “ahaa” and had a lot of fun at a shopping centre.
The next days we went to school a lot, had a volleyball competition and got to know the Estonian school life.

Wednesday was a really exciting day too. We visited Tallinn the capital of Estonia. That day we had to wake up early because of the long bus ride and when we arrived, we had a visit to a marine-museum and after that we had a guided tour through the old-town which was very interesting and I learned some quite interesting facts about the history of the city. After the tour we had some free time and we went shopping because it was really cold outside… In the evening at 7pm we visited the Nordea concert house and watched the Prime Orchestra. At about 1am we arrived at Kanepi after a really long day.

All in all you can say that while my Exchange in Estonia I personally learned a lot about Estonian traditions, the nature and the people. I made some really good experiences in a country that I didn’t know much about. I think Estonia is worth a travel and more people should consider visiting the country and its beautiful nature.
