My exchange in Estonia 2018
The time I spent in Estonia was a great experience and
good possibility to get to know another culture and to learn how to talk to
other people in English.
At first I was a bit shy and did not really know how
to communicate with my host family until I got to know them better and knew how
everything went on in their daily life.
At that time I started to be really comfortable at my home for the week
and had a lot of fun in my host family. Furthermore I had the impression that
they opened up during the week too. All the time I had the impression that I
was welcome there and my host family was very hospitable.
Additionally I really liked the program organized by the
school as well as the activities planned by my host family. Everyone was
seriously trying to make our stay in Estonia as good as possible therefore they
organized many meetings with all the exchange students and it did not become
boring at all, even if Kanepi is just a really small village.
Especially the trip to Tallinn was really worth the
long journey, and I enjoyed visiting this lovely city. The concert in the
evening was much better than I expected it to be because I thought that the
genre would be much more classical.
Moreover I was able to get to know the Estonian
culture through many presentations about that country, the Estonian evening in
the cultural centre and many facts my host family gave me while visiting
different interesting spots like for example the highest mountain in Estonia
and the capital of winter, Otepää.
Concerning the landscape, I think that Estonia is not
the most beautiful country I have seen in my life but I still really like the
fact that the nature seems very untouched and there are many beautiful spots in
the forests and the view from the highest mountain of Estonia is impressing.
Even if I felt cold for many times here, it was
interesting to see the snowy landscape, which is really unusual for us and it
was great to have the possibility to do winter sports here, like for example
skiing and riding a husky slide.
All in all I really enjoyed my stay in Estonia and
maybe I will come back to this beautiful country.
