Student Exchange Werther-Kanepi 2018

The exchange was very interesting because the weather is so different to Germany but it is quite nice with the snow and ice. The School here is very small but nice like the students and a nice variety to our German school. First I expected that it is way colder than in Germany but it was just a few degrees colder. I also expected that the houses in Estonia are not that good like in Germany but there is no big difference. I was a bit scared, because I didn´t know how the people here think.

We went with a plane to the Riga airport and came with a bus to Kanepi Gymnasium.  On the Bus we saw that Estonia looks very beautiful with this much snow and the big forests. It was very different that in Estonia is way more nature. I mean more big lakes and Forests. The coldness in Estonia is a bit different to the coldness in Germany. In Germany is it only a bit cold but very windy. In Estonia is the temperature way lower but there is no wind. So I felt the coldness not that much.

When I arrived in my host family I found out that the Estonian people are very kind what surprised me a little bit and I learned that the Estonians are very proud to be Estonians and that they say it very often. Not like in Germany where almost nobody says to other people they don´t know very well that they are proud to be a German.

So all in all the exchange was a very good experience to meet learn a bit more about another land in Europe and to see very much snow and ice, what is very interesting. And it was very interesting to see how people in cold country’s live.
